Getting a Quote
How long does it take to get a quote?+
We respond to all quote requests within 2 business hours during Mon–Fri 8AM–6PM and Sat 9AM–2PM EAT. Complex or multi-item shipments may take a little longer as we confirm rates with our carrier partners.
What information do I need to provide for an accurate quote?+
At minimum: origin and destination, cargo type/commodity, weight and volume (or dimensions), and preferred mode of transport (air, sea, or road). For sea freight, let us know if you need a full container (FCL) or shared space (LCL/groupage).
Do you charge for quotations?+
No. Getting a quote from BrighterDay Freight is completely free with no obligation to book.
Shipping & Transit
Which countries do you ship to and from?+
We handle freight forwarding to and from over 80 countries, with particular strength in China–East Africa trade lanes, as well as routes across the Middle East, Europe, and North America.
How long does sea freight take compared to air freight?+
Sea freight typically takes 20–45 days depending on origin and port congestion, while air freight usually takes 3–10 days door-to-door. Air freight costs more but is ideal for urgent or high-value cargo.
Can I track my shipment?+
Yes — every shipment is tracked from pickup to delivery. You can check status anytime on our Track Shipment page using your tracking or Bill of Lading number, and you'll also receive SMS/email updates at key milestones.
What is the difference between FCL and LCL?+
FCL (Full Container Load) means your cargo has an entire container to itself — more cost-effective for large volumes. LCL (Less than Container Load) means your cargo shares container space with other shippers' goods — better for smaller shipments.
Customs & Documentation
Do you handle customs clearance?+
Yes, customs clearance is handled through our licensed clearing agents, fully compliant with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and other regional customs authorities.
What documents do I need for import/export?+
Common requirements include a commercial invoice, packing list, Bill of Lading/Airway Bill, and Certificate of Origin. Depending on the goods, a PVoC (Pre-Export Verification of Conformity) certificate, import permit, or IDF (Import Declaration Form) may also be required. We'll guide you through exactly what's needed for your specific cargo.
What is PVoC and do I need it?+
PVoC is a KEBS-mandated conformity assessment for certain goods imported into Kenya. If your commodity requires it, we'll flag it early in the process so it doesn't delay clearance at the port.
Payments & Costs
What payment methods do you accept?+
We accept M-Pesa, bank transfer, and major payment gateways. Full banking and payment details are included on every quotation and invoice we send.
Are there any hidden charges?+
No. Our quotations clearly itemize every charge. Note that destination charges like demurrage, detention, storage, or KRA duties/taxes are separate from our freight charges and are the client's responsibility unless otherwise agreed.
Do I need to pay before or after delivery?+
Payment terms depend on the agreement — typically payment is due before cargo release/delivery unless credit terms have been agreed with us in writing in advance.
Online Shopping & Personal Shopper
Can you help me import personal shopping/parcels from abroad?+
Yes — our Online Shopping service lets you buy from international stores (e.g. Amazon, Alibaba, eBay) and we consolidate, ship, and clear your parcels through customs to your door in Kenya.
Is there a minimum order size for the shopping service?+
No strict minimum, though very small/light parcels may be more cost-effective when consolidated with other items. Talk to us and we'll advise the best option for your order.
